Consulting Services

Preparing nonprofit leaders to build new frameworks for adaptability, resilience, and growth.  Offering consulting, training, and coaching services designed to provide strategic direction and growth formulas to nonprofit leaders in a time of great change.

How do nonprofits continue to meet current demands and plan for growth to meet emerging needs? What new leadership and management methods are needed? How can nonprofits lay the foundation for an emerging new nonprofit funding model? These are some of the questions nonprofit leaders are asking.

Workshops

Consulting

I offer a range of solutions to facilitate nonprofit resilience. All of my services are values-based, highly collaborative, donor and stakeholder- centered. They include a big-picture understanding of the transformative changes in the world and the local impact, as well as practical steps to prepare for a new emerging funding model. Nonprofit organizations are uniquely positioned to serve a world undergoing evolutionary change.
Nonprofit sustainability requires more than what we have come to know as traditional development and fundraising. In the 21st century, cultivating an expanding capacity for adaptability is a key.

Essential Concepts of the New Funding Economy

We live in a time of historic transformation.  How does the old nonprofit growth paradigm conflict with the emerging new paradigm of constant and rapid change?  Are nonprofits prepared to respond to emerging gaps in services at the local level?

These workshops prepare nonprofit leaders and visionaries for challenges in a rapidly changing environment.  What new knowledge is needed? Few nonprofits recognize the different between linear (either-or) and non-linear (and/both) thinking and yet, that is a key to resilience.  How can collaborative conversations benefit? What skills are required to connect the mission with the heart of a donor?

Participants will:

  • Gain new insights into global changes that affect local nonprofits
  • Become familiar with a new language for a new world view
  • Learn which assumptions of nonprofit management should be challenged
  • Discover how to serve and interact with communities in transition
  • How to bolster community leaders and emerging human needs

Essential Planned Giving Skills Workshops

These workshops are designed for executive directors, directors of development, vice presidents, development “generalists,” or others who desire competence with basic, non-technical planned giving to give donors more options.

They focus on blending basic planned giving into the on-going development effort and are designed to increase development effectiveness by lengthening the donor and prospect pipeline.
The purpose is to increase skills so that nonprofit professionals can generate resources to match growth goals.

Participants will:

  • Gain the perspective and skills to give donors more options;
  • Learn basic, non technical, results-oriented gift planning strategies that blend with the on-going development effort;
  • Learn to think more strategically, and creatively, about annual fund donors;
  • Speak intelligently with board leaders and key donors about deferred gifts;
  • Gain ideas and strategies for consistent marketing;
  • Discover how to expand networks; and
  • Increase their value as development professionals.

This may be provided as an on-site series of workshops and as teleclasses.  For groups of nonprofits that are networked together by a single funding source and would prefer group training, teleclasses provide a convenient and cost-effective option.

These workshops cover “conversational” planned giving and donor centered. They are not taxation discussion and do not feature legal and financial terminology. They emphasize prospect identification, donor cultivation and solicitation strategies, and marketing.

Please contact me for details about setting up on-site or teleclass training for your organization or network.

Teleclasses

Teleclasses are offered for educational, informational, or motivational purposes. They cover a wide range of topics of benefit to nonprofits in growth-mode. Some are free and others are paid.

Examples: How to prepare for big change, how to cultivate resiliency in your nonprofit, a quick refresher or tips on donor cultivation or marketing, or may you want to connect with other nonprofit colleagues.

Get instant access to new teleclasses as they are announced by signing up for the newsletter.

Coaching

Coaching is an investment in yourself, your personal and professional value. It provides personalized, specific support, structure, and focus to move forward. It is based on working from positions of personal strength.

  • Are you an executive with board members going in all different directions some of whom understand the need for change?
  • Do you have leadership, administrative skills and expertise about your mission, and when it comes to donor cultivation, you would benefit from support?
  • Would you like to gain knowledge about building and leading a resilient organization?

We will collaborate on goals and action-oriented outcomes. This is custom-tailored to suit and re-energize you.

Board Education

I am often asked to design and facilitate a workshop or retreat to meet particular goals. We can draw from any of the information on this page as well as tap expertise of members of my network. Possibilities include:

  • Preparing for a new funding economy
  • Universal principles of sustainability
  • Advancing strategic thinking and visioning
  • Increasing knowledge about donor cultivation and solicitation
  • Engaging more volunteers in resource development (not just fundraising)

Staff Training

Custom-designed training may be arranged on-site or via teleclass. Consider what needs to happen and we will figure a way to accomplish it.
